ReActivate yourself – Youth for Equity

The project “ReActivate yourself – Youth for Equity ” is implemented by Lesbian Organisation Rijeka – LORI together with SOS Rijeka – Centre for Nonviolence and Human Rights and Delta, and financed by the European Union as part of Erasmus+ programme.

It’s being implemented from 1st September 2025 to 30th April 2027, and it’s aimed to empower youth to get actively involved in creating an inclusive, solidary and just local community.

More often in public spaces one can notice ideological societal divides and anti-gender narratives getting stronger which influence the lives of youth, especially the ones with fewer opportunities such as LGBTIQ+ youth.

Within this increasingly negative socio-cultural context, while working with youth, our organisations noticed that youth today face more peer and online violence as well as more hate speech. Furthermore, they often don’t have the opportunity to learn about topics connected to gender roles, gender identity, sexual orientation and/or gender equality within formal educational programmes and also don’t have the chance to broaden their understanding on the importance of these topics in everyday life.

The project therefore wishes to empower youth to take active part in creating an inclusive and just society, while the specific goals are:

1. to strengthen the capacities of LGBTIQ+ and other youth for civil participation and active involvement in the field of gender equality and non-discrimination based on LGBTIQ identities;
2. to strengthen the emotional resilience of LGBTIQ+ youth and other youth;
3. to increase the number of (LGBTIQ+) youth that actively contribute to the development of inclusivity and non-discrimination in their local community;
4. to encourage networking, mutual understanding and dialogue between youth.

The activities of the project are aimed towards all youth (15 – 30 years) who wish to strengthen their capacities and get actively involved in their local community with the goal to protect fundamental human rights and freedoms.

Important participants and decision makers in the field of human rights protection and youth advocacy are also involved in the project and will meet with the youth. The activities of the project will take place in Rijeka and Pula.
